Penny & Paul is a D.C. based crochet-wear and home goods company.

We pioneer, design, and hand-make uber awesome hats and accessories for the young, old, and all else Rad. Focusing on precise detail and the individuality of each piece, Penny & Paul creations allow you to strut through the world alive with verve and ooh-la-la.

Inspired by all things quirky, quality, and original, Penny & Paul provides one-of-a-kind items that are functional, long-lasting, and, OH YEAH, hip.

Well...we is me, Emily McCarthy!

I learned to crochet in ’99 at a laundromat while on a family vacation on the California coast. Rocking away on the porch next door were three old lively biddies, cackling and crocheting away. Intrigued, I asked if they would teach me their secrets. That day I made a simple chain, which evolved into my first (lumpy) scarf, which catapulted my passion for all things crocheted and ultimately handmade.

I’ve made it my mission to bring the edge back to an ancient-ish skill. I support “made in the USA” appreciating the feel and unique character of items that take time, thought, and care to produce right here in the states.

Every item I sell is personally made by me, one at a time! My goods have been fashioned with imagination and great effort.
